"We're cat people," he told me at the dog ice cream social. People come to socialize their pets--they pay $2 and get human ice cream. $5 bucks gets ice cream for humans and "frosty paws" for the canines. These two people don't have a dog but they come twice a month to the ice cream social to watch the dogs. "I've gotten more laughs at dog and cat shows, than I ever have at an auto show...and I like cars," he said. Later, an acquaintance came over and told a joke that went something like this: "I can't believe that I've been married for over fifty years. I could have been out of jail faster than this." Unimpressed and barely looking up, the woman in white nodded towards the man in plaid and said, "yeah, he's got lots of jokes like that too." They too have been married for over 50 years. Cheers.
